The Big Bang Theory

Yesterday (the 12 of November) I did a thing on the big bang theory with Caleb H(not the TV show in case you were wondering).

The universe could have started in many ways, the most common theory is the big bang where a whole bunch of stuff just bunched together and created atoms, the atoms became other things that I am not going into detail for, after the thing, singular, or mega atom?

Was created, and then helium and hydrogen formed after a while it went BOOM and the universe we know today was created. The big bang theory was thought up by Georges Lemaître who was a cosmologist and a priest. After a few years Edwin Hubble created the Hubble Space Telescope which is still used today to capture images of space. an interesting fact is I don’t know because I think I’ve covered the theory. Production Post

This year Tangaroa has been doing Diwali for inquiry and we did a production about the year’s theme, celebration. For my part I made a diya out of clay where we put a tea light in instead of a candle because of the smoke alarms. There are four segments, the colourful dance, the black and white dance, the protest scene and the diyas. The diya group walks in from outside holding our little creation.

The run through is pretty straight forward the dances go first followed by the protesters and the diya groups go last. The other groups are doing Matariki, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Holi, and a Maori waiata. The final part of this is a prerecorded drone shot of the whole school in a shape of a ten for our ten year anniversary.

To create our diyas we first got a hunk of clay, we then shaped it using a little bit of water to smooth it out and flipped it upside down to dry, after that we painted it white and waited after the few days of waiting for the paint to dry we put on a design.

A RISE value showed was resilience for the diyas getting messed up but just starting a new, success for having them finished and for the nights of the production.

WK9 Reflection

This week (the last week of term by the way) it was pretty normal week with basketball on Thursday twice, but other then that it was pretty basic with literacy on Monday. We started off with either great beginnings or a big write I’m pretty sure it  was a big write and it was fun I worked on the one from a few weeks ago. After that we had maths and my time was around 1 minute 20 seconds with 60 out of 60 correct and bet Redmond by a few seconds.

Tuesday was pretty much the same with literacy and maths in the morning and the year 5/6 basketball competition and instead we did the winter learning journey and made a song on song maker. I chose to do the Simpsons  intro  because it was set in the winter for the first episode.

 

Wednesday was a mix up  of Monday and Tuesday because of literacy and math in the morning and the winter learning journey in the afternoon.

Thursday me and some others skipped tech and played in the inter school basketball competition I did another post on that topic. My team came third out of five schools, the match against Queenspark was a stroke of luck because we were losing by 1 point but one of us shot and it landed on top of the backboard and rolled in, it shouldn’t of counted but we got away with it.

The RISE Value was mostly success and some resilience for obvious reasons and that’s pretty much all that happened in the week. but today (Friday) we had assembly it was okay.

Basketball 2025

On Thursday the 26 of June me and some of my friends went down to Cowles stadium to play in the interschool competition. We played from 12 to 2 and came 3rd. We went up against Queenspark, Parkview, Marshland and South new Brighton. Our total amount of points was 17 and lost to Marshland by 1 point. The RISE value all of us showed was resilience and Success because of our placement. This was a great experience for me and some others. Shae

Week 7 Reflection

 

This is the reflection of week 7 in term 2.

 

We kicked off on Monday with literacy first, the entire group me included had to write a story in 35 minutes I easily got that goal down with 900 –  1,000 words in 55 minutes (the other 100 words were done in the second session). Next up we had math my group was working on division we were learning about the dividend, the divisor and the quotient they dividend is the big number you start of with (you should know what the divisor is) and the quotient is the result. And after that it was the second literacy session, it was pretty simple with read or writing at the start and then some tasks around similes, metaphors and hyperbole. The task was to make three memes each one was about a simile a metaphor and a hyperbole.

 

On Tuesday it was the same as Monday in literacy there was no writing but other then that pretty normal.

 

Same as Wednesday. For math we were learning the nine times tables, after that we did a blooket. So it was the same as Tuesday.

 

Thursday was tech day I was in coding and just added the  finishing touches to my game. We had basketball from 2 to 3 and at 5 we had the game. They were destroyed 50 – 9 I felt bad for them.  

The RISE values that were shown was mostly success and some resilience. They were shown by the effort put into my story 1076 words and basketball was not giving up, Empathy was kind of shown for the whole team because we all felt the same hot and sweaty.

Oxford Maths

 

This year we have started oxford maths and the government have made the schools in nz use oxford because they think we have not high enough test scores (which I don’t believe). But they are dumb and I don’t like this. 

 

The topics

 

So the year eights are learning about whole numbers, Decimals to fractions and fractions to percentanges, factors and HCF, Prime numbers and prime factorisation (such a long word), Surveys and data sources and types and last but not ;leastt polygons and circles. And those are the topics .

 

How it works

 

So basically imagine this book on the home page of the site you can open it and go to a paper plane thingy and there are all the test on there. The order is pretest Then teaching with a select group and everyone else  does a worksheet and like a few days later we do a thing called a post test which can see how much we have improved.

 

The opinions 

 

I think everyone thinks this is toleraterble and thats a fact like I was not to good at some things and now I am really good at them so thats how helpful the website is for some people but the really good people in my group just zoom through it. But the government did this for highschool learning so the year eights are prepared for it later on but I find this okay and will probably keep learning like this.

Week Nine Reflection (Term 1)

So On Monday I started the day by being very sick and not going to school.

And then I went to school  on Tuesday I was fine and just did the usual so swimming around 8 lengths so that was easy I did a big staple which is a type of bomb and no I did not become a staple and got stapled onto some paper in case you were wondering if that is what you were wondering. Then we had some literacy and then I worked on my St Patricks day poster which has Patrick behind it don’t tell the teachers about him.

 

So then on Wednesday I did the exact same thing!

 

So Thursday was fun no swimming which was pretty sad. So then I went to P.E with Matt and then we played cats and mice so the mice had to survive the longest and the cats had to catch them and we survived 4 minutes and like 20 seconds. And then we went to tech and it will take around 10 minutes to finish my bag.

 

So Today/Friday I went to choice and challenge with the homies like Jaime Max and Quinn and we just popped some bombs like Manus and staples if you don’t know what a staple is then re read the post. Then we went to literacy and I wrote This.

So I showed success when I did a big staple and if you still don’t know what a staple is the look it up.

Robot Dodgeball/Leadership

On the 18th I think that’s when we played Robot Dodge ball where we made a little groupie with some friends and then we got rolls (see what I did there). And I was the controller yes a controller like from Fortnite and Minecraft what  did you think I was a sandwich? Well I was very annoyed about it because of will being the visualizer and not being able to talk which was not good and then I was the robot and I had to be blindfolded which was not good and then we lost because of the negative one point because of me going out because of the boundary.

W6 Week reflection

So this week I did swimming sports and wait wait wait lest start back from day one.

 

So on Monday I went to school and found out about swimming sports and was psyched about and was preparing for the sports coming up. So we had to do 12 lengths.

 

So on Tuesday we did guess what?!  The exact same things!

 

And on Wednesday we did the exact things as Tuesday

 

And then Thursday I went swimming and had to swim

Week Recap

On Monday the class started with swimming Only people who had their togs could go the others had to do dry swimming and water deaths /Drowning. Then we did maths and I started Working on the place value task where we had to make a place value house.

 

On Tuesday my highlight was Death diving with a big splash otherwise same as Monday.

 

On Wednesday I got Jaxon to Death Dive which was a massive highlight.

 

Then on Thursday we went to Tech and I drew a chainsaw onto my bag to signal no more deforestation.

 

Then today Friday I went to assembly came back and wrote this.
